Indian 68th Republic Day celebrated
ISLAMABAD,JAN 27 (DNA) – Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale hosted a reception to celebrate 68th Republic Day of India.
The reception was attended by a large number of diplomats, members of civil society and artists. State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rahman was the chief guest at the function.
The US and UK envoys by and large stay away from such receptions nevertheless both these diplomats attended the Indian reception.
It was perhaps the first high profile reception after US president Donald Trump took oath of his office therefore the diplomats as well as general public were seen discussing the future of the United States and its relations with the outer world during Trump presidency.
A diplomat while ruling out the impeachment of the newly-sworn in president of the United States, feared something weird may happen if things continued to move in the similar fashion.
Impeachment of the President is difficult because the Republicans are now in full command however things might take a new turn once there is a realization among the Republicans that with Donald Trump at the helm of affairs, it would not be possible to run affairs in a befitting manner, opined some guests.
Chairman Evacuee Trust Board Siddiqul Farooq who also attended the function presented portraits and books about Hindu culture to the High Commissioner and told the High Commissioner that his department was taking care of Hindu sacred places located in Pakistan in a proper way.=DNA
