‘Imran is a man of character, he can be trusted,’ says Sidhu
CHANDIGRAH, (DNA) – The Cabinet Minister of India’s Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu, says he has accepted the invitation extended by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan for attending his swearing-in ceremony as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
“It is (a) great honour, I accept the invitation. Men of genius are admired, men of power are feared, but men of character are trusted. Khan Sahab is a man of character. He can be trusted. Sportsmen build bridges, break barriers, unite people,” Sidhu said in a statement issued here.
However, Imran’s PTI on Thursday said they wont be inviting any foreign leader to the oath ceremony.
Earlier speaking to media, Sidhu said, “It’s a huge honour for me. It’s a personal invitation (for Imran Khan’s swearing-in) from him and not a political one.”
Praising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and to be prime minister on Pakistan, Sidhu said: “He (Imran Khan) has risen from scratch in politics. I see him as a ray of hope.”
Sidhu was among other personalities who was invited by Khan to attend his oath-taking ceremony. Imran’s PTI has emerged as the single-largest party in the National Assembly after last week’s general election in the country.
According to reports, Imran would take oath as prime minister on August 11.
Recently in a statement, Sidhu said he remembered one-time Imraan said to him;
“Navjot Buzdili ki saaza mout hai” (The punishment for cowardice in Death)”
“You rate the ability in men by what they finish not by what they attempt. He started from scratch and today he is about to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan! ”
When asked if Imran will prove to be a good thing for India, Sidhu said
“He can prove to be good news for India. I have full hope and faith in him”.
