Imran Khan promises ‘revolution’ in KP after LG elections
SKARDU, May 28 (DNA): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Thursday that he believes elections will take place in 2015 and PTI will come to power.
He also said that revolution will come in Khyber Pakhtunkwa (KP) by the means of local body elections.
“It is the local government system that will bring the real change and improve your condition, you will witness revolution in KPK now,” Imran said while addressing a rally here.
Imran Khan said that he had waited 19 years to address a crowd in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Criticizing Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) governments in the past, Imran Khan said that those who could not bring change after ruling the country for 3 times cannot bring any change in their 4th tenure as well.
The PTI Chairman said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had come to Skardu after elections and promised a package of 47 arab rupees but he should keep in mind that people are not sheep that can be bought with money alone.
Presenting Switzerland as a role model, Imran Khan said that the country has an acute shortage of resources yet it is one of the most prosperous countries due to its system of pure democracy.
He criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari’s decision to not hold local body elections adding that they did not want transfer of power and funds to grass root levels.
Imran Khan said that these funds are merely a tool for Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to control Members Provincial Assembly (MPAs) and police to target innocents.
Chairman PTI said that revolution will come in KP by the means of local body elections. Expressing hope, he said that in the aftermath of result declaration of investigations of 2013 elections, new elections will take place in 2015 and PTI will come to power as a result.
Outlining KP government’s achievements, he said that corruption and bribery had been eliminated from the province. He added that police service in KP had also been made exemplary while deeds of police of other provinces are well known.
He promised to give constitutional rigts to the people of Gilgit and Skardu adding that energy crisis of the region would be dealt with by making dams, as the government aimed to do in KP province.
He urged the people of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) to question the other parties as to what good they have done for the country during the last 30 years while remaining in the government.
He jested that masses should avail the opportunity provided by Benazir Income Support Program but should vote for PTI only.
The PTI chairman hailed the participation of youth in the rally, saying “nothing is more satisfactory than seeing that the youth is politically aware. You are well aware of your rights.” DNA
