Imran contracted marriage before completion of Bushra Maneka’s Iddat: report

ISLAMABAD, MAR 05 (DNA) – The dust regarding the third marriage of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Supremo Imran Khan does not seem to settle as the marriage was solemnized in a flagrant contradiction with religious injunctions.

According to a report by The News – leading daily that first broke the news regarding the third marriage of PTI chief – the marriage of Khan with Bushra Maneka was performed at a time when the latter was observing iddah or iddat (period of waiting), which is the period a woman must observe after the death of her spouse or after a divorce, during which she is barred to marry anyone.

The reporter, Umar Cheema went on to claim that the cricketer-turned-politician made a humble request to his nikkah khawan, Mufti Saeed, not to disclose the real date of nikah, fearing that it would create serious implications for him.

“Media will chase you. They will try to provoke you (into disclosure) as you are a gentle fellow. You are to protect my honour at all costs. I had trusted you before and you honoured it. Please make sure you don’t talk on this issue,” requested Imran as quoted by the reporter.

“Allow me to answer. You said this and I have agreed (not to disclose). That’s it,” replied Mufti Saeed to Khan.

According to the exclusive piece, questions about iddah controversy were asked by PTI members as well, as to why Mufti Saeed risked his credentials by performing nikah before iddat.

“Explaining this that I was kept in dark (about iddat) is very difficult for me,” Saeed said sharing his dilemma with a confidante.

Defending his position, Mufti Saeed expressed that there was no point of asking when the couple was already aware of the fact that marriage couldn’t be solemnized during iddat.

“They should have told me. I couldn’t have asked this out of courtesy,” he reportedly said, as claimed by the reporter.

Mufti Saeed, who also performed Imran’s nikkah with Reham Khan and kept it secret, shared with his friends that there would be a big drama if he uncovered the truth.

“How can I tell that I blindly trusted (the couple about iddat),” observed the Mufti.

The sensational story narrates that a close confidante of Imran’s third wife, Farah Jabeen lavished praise on Mufti Saeed for jealously guarding the secret by thwarting the media queries.
