Govt shows zero tolerance towards issue of fake degrees: Senate

ISLAMABAD, Aug 03 (DNA): Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Balighur Rehman says FC has been deployed at Harnai in Balochistan for the security of coalmines where mining activity has resumed after a long time.
He was winding up discussion in the Senate on a motion moved by Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar.
The Minister of State said FC was deployed under an agreement in December last. Winding up discussion on a motion moved by Saleem Zia, Muhammad Balighur Rehman said the government has adopted zero tolerance policy towards the issue of fake certificates and degrees.
He said the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has evolved a secured procedure for the issuance of certificates.
He said Higher Education Commission has also evolved an elaborate system for verification of degrees.
Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal told the Senate that the country is currently facing shortage of 2.5 billion cubic feet of gas and the deficit might increase to 5.5 billion in the next seven years.
Winding up debate on a motion moved by Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi,he said the government is trying to implement both Iran-Pakistan and TAPI gas pipeline projects to help overcome the problem.
The House rejected a resolution sought to be moved by Sardar Azam Khan Musakhel not to give status of a university to PIMS.
Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Usman Ibrahim told the House that a law has been passed by the Parliament for establishment of the university. Therefore, it cannot be reversed through a resolution.
