Govt committee contacts Opposition to discuss TORs
LAHORE, 12 JUNE, (DNA) – A governmental committee consisting of Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and Minister of State of Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rahman on Sunday met with Jamaat Islami (JI) ameer Sirajul Haq to discuss the Terms of References (TORs) catering the investigation of the Panama Leaks issue.
During the meeting, JI chief expressed his concerns upon the TORs suggested by the government and stated that the government is not serious regarding the issue and demanded that deadlock persisting over the matter be resolved at the earliest. Siraj stated that all political parties want indiscriminate action against corruption.
Khawaja Saad presented Siraj with the amended version of the draft of the proposals regarding the TORs that included articles about indiscriminate action against corruption. He stated that the government is dealing with the matter with seriousness and intends that all corrupt elements be brought forth.
JI will make announcement regarding its new political strategy after taking advice from legal experts over the TORs proposed by the government. =DNA
