Govt committed to preserve Sutlej River Civilization: Balighur Rahman

MULTAN, OCT 27 (DNA) – Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Engineer Balighur Rahman said on Friday that the PML-N government was committed to preserve the Sutlej River Civilization that had been facing threat of extinction since the day the river had gone dry due to an unpopular decision of a dictator.
The groundwater level had gone down to a dangerous level in Bahawalpur as a consequent effect of a wrong and unpopular decision of a dictator that had left the Sutlej River dry, said the minister while addressing a workshop on revival of cultural heritage in Bahawalpur.
The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage in Bahawalpur, says an official.
Balighur Rahman said the government was designing a big lake project near the bed of the river Sutlej in Bahawalpur to improve ground water level there.
The big lake project would help maintain the ground water level and land had been identified for the purpose, the minister said. A beautiful park would also developed on the lake bank, he added.
“Being a son of soil, I will do whatever I could for revival of the River Sutlej Civilization.”
