G – 14 allotees resent housing foundation demand for extra charges

ISLAMABAD, JAN 05 (DNA) – The allottees of Sector G-14 who are yet to get possession of their plots in the housing scheme have flayed the decision of the Federal Govt Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) to collect additional money from the allotees in the name of so-called ‘ built-up’ charges.

The enraged allottees thronged the office of the Foundation and asked the Foundation to withdraw the decision immediately as it would put extra burden on the poor plot owners.

They also criticized the Foundation for not developing the sector despite the fact that it was opened 14 years ago. Many of the plot owners have either died or turned too old to build a house now.

The allottees also called upon the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the delay in the development of Sector G 14 so that the poor plot owners, mostly the retired government servants get an instant relief.

It may be mentioned here that despite ban on constructions in the said Sector, people had built illegally houses allegedly in connivance with the officials of the Foundation with a view to demanding money when asked to vacate the land.

The built-up charges mean that Foundation will collect money from the genuine land owners to give to those people who have been illegally occupying the land since long.

Allottees say why such people were allowed to build houses illegally in the said Sector? And why the genuine allottees should pay for such illegal constructions?

Through the letter, the allottees were informed that the process of land acquisition in sectors G-14/1, G-14/2 and G-14/3 was in process and they are required to pay money as additional BuP charges in three installments, the first of those is to be paid by January 10.

The allottees falling in Category-I have been directed to pay Rs588,000 in three installments of Rs196,00 each, Category-II Rs418,600 in three installments of Rs139,533, Category-III Rs320,225 in three installments of Rs106,742, Category IV Rs235,200 in three installments of Rs78,400 while Category V allottees would have to pay Rs130,536 in three installments of Rs43,512.=DNA
