Funeral prayers of Sabika Sheikh offered in Houston
HOUSTON, MAY 21 (DNA) – The funeral prayers of Sabika Sheikh, the Pakistani exchange student killed in Texas’s Santa Fe High School shooting on Friday, was offered at the Brand Lane Islamic Center in Houston on Sunday.
Large number of members of Pakistani community, Pakistan Council General Aisha Farooqi, Mayor Houston and members of US Congress also attended the funeral.
Arrangements were also made for Quran Khwani for the departed soul at the mosque in Houston.
Sheikh Sheikh was one of the 10 people killed in the Texas’s Santa Fe High School shooting on Friday morning. Sabika was an exchange student with Youth Exchange and Study (YES) programme, which is funded by the U.S. State Department. It provides scholarships for secondary-school students from countries with significant Muslim populations to spend one academic year in the US.
