France to boost trade ties with Pakistan
Rawalpindi: Pakistani business community and traders should ensure maximum exports to France and other European Union countries through France by taking full advantage of the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) Plus status. Pakistan has great potential to expand business relations with France. The bilateral trade volume needed to be enhanced. This was stated by Philippe Fouet head of economic department at France embassy in Pakistan during his visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Monday.
While talking to the RCCI President Raja Amer Iqbal he said that there are vast opportunities of cooperation in the field of fisheries, minerals, defense production and energy. Exchange of delegation and trade exhibitions can further boost bilateral trade ties, he added.
On this occasion, RCCI President Raja Amer Iqbal said that trade volume between France and Pakistan is very low despite having big potential. He asked for exploring possible opportunities for foreign direct investment and joint ventures in the upcoming China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Sectors including Textile, Auto Mobil, parts and tourism can be explored for further strengthening trade ties. Single country exhibition and exchange of delegation should be made frequent, he further added. He assured RCCI’s full support and cooperation in this regard.
