Karachi: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Director of Pak-France Business Council, Muhammad Zeeshan Khaliq has asked Pakistani importers to stop buying French goods on Saturday in the latest expression of anger in the Muslim world over images being displayed in France of the Prophet Mohammad, which some Muslims consider blasphemous.

“I am calling to all my traders from here to never help French brands or buy them,” he said.

In lahore city, a supermarket chain Al Fatah stores had stripped its shelves of L’Oreal cosmetics and skincare products after the cooperative union to which it belongs decided to stop stocking French goods.

As France and Pakistan have equal bilateral trade volume of $ 400 million each.

Similarly Pakistan France Business Council for FPCCI has also strongly condemned the republication of cartoons insulting Prophet Muhammad by French magazine Charlie Hebdo.

“We strongly condemn any inflammatory rhetoric and provocative acts that seek to defame the religion of Islam as the world has recently witnessed in the form of populist speeches and publication of blasphemous caricatures depicting the Holy Prophet Muhammad,”

The condemnation came after French President Emmanuel Macron defended the magazine and referred to Islam as “a religion in crisis all over the world,” causing outrage among Muslims across the world.
