Foreign security experts endorse security measures for PSL 3

KARACHI, Feb 11 (DNA): The international security consultants on Sunday expressed satisfaction over the security plan mapped out for Pakistan Super League (PSL) third edition final in the metropolis, following a full-dress security rehearsal of the match.

The security experts had earlier arrived in the city to review the security arrangements.

Addressing a press conference, England’s security expert Reg Dickason said that the security arrangements were satisfactory to hold the league’s final in the city on March 5. He said he was briefed about the arrangements by officials and found the security measures up to snuff, adding, the report to the Federation of International Cricketers’ Association will be compiled in a week.

Earlier today, a full-dress security rehearsal of the PSL third edition final was held in the metropolis amid stringent security measures.

On the occasion, the law enforcement agencies including Sindh Police, Pakistan Rangers, Airport Security Force (ASF) alongside other security agencies presented a demonstration of foolproof security arrangements for the league’s final.

Speaking to press at National Stadium earlier today, Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal appeared confident over security measures, as what he said, the international security consultants were satisfied with the arrangements. He said the recommendations by the foreign security consultants would be fully implemented if made any.

Meanwhile, all main arteries and routes leading to National Cricket Stadium have been closed for traffic as the rehearsal began. A large number of security personnel were also deployed at and around the stadium.

Dickason has been roped in by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a bid to regain the international community’s confidence over security measures in Pakistan for sporting events.

The expert had also arrived in Karachi in October last year to discuss the security measures for the league’s final and held meetings with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police (IGP) A.D. Khawaja. DNA
