Fire destroys shoe factory in Lahore’s Timber market
LAHORE, MAY 10, (DNA) – Raw material and finished wood products worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes after a fire swept through a shoe-manufacturing factory in Timber Market on Ravi Road on Saturday.
According to the Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the fire initially erupted in a section of the manufacturing unit but soon engulfed the entire premises as well as the warehouse because of the presence of various chemicals and glues inside. Rescue teams and firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after more than two hours. No casualties were reported in the fire.
The rescuers evacuated the nearby buildings to avoid any unwanted situation. The Rescue 1122 officer said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
