FIR lodged against Qadri for ‘inciting violence’
LAHORE: Punjab government on Wednesday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri at the Faisal Town police station in Lahore for “inciting violence”. The decision to lodge a complaint against the PAT chief was taken during a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and attended by senior leaders of the party.
During the meeting the Punjab Law Department was directed to review the speech delivered by Dr Qadri on Sunday in Lahore during which the PAT chief had allegedly made illegal statements and incited people to attack policemen.
The PAT chief had allegedly asked his workers to attack security forces and kill 15 policemen in retaliation for the death of 15 party workers in June 17 Model Town incident.
