Fawad Chaudhry says opposition too should support Alvi for president
ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said that he has called upon opposition parties to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Arif Alvi during presidential polls.
“Arif Alvi is winning it (presidential polls) anyway so I suggested that PPP and PML-N too should support him so that he gets elected to the post without opposition, a consensus for such a respected post will be vital,” Fawad Chaudhry told a reporter.
He added that Arif Alvi too has promised that he will run the office as per the rules and the neutrality it demands.
It is pertinent to note here that the PTI’s candidate for presidential elections Arif Alvi is set to win the election as opposition parties failed to nominate a joint candidate for the elections despite having formidable support in the electoral college to give the ruling party a tough time.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has nominated party stalwart Aitzaz Ahsan while PML-N and the rest of opposition parties are backing JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for the post.
