Ex-DAG ‘to file FIR’ against Nawaz for ‘lying’ to parliament
PESHAWAR, JUL 30 (DNA) – The former deputy attorney-general has announced registering a first information report (FIR) under Section 22-A against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for lying before parliament about his assets while filing his nomination papers for the 2013 general elections.
“We are going to lodge an FIR against Nawaz on Monday at Islamabad’s Secretariat Police Station for lying before parliament regarding his assets revealed in the Panama Papers,” said Muhammad Khurshid Khan while addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Saturday.
Appreciating the Supreme Court’s ‘bold’ decision, he said that Nawaz and his children Maryum, Hussain and Hassan were involved in money laundering, corruption and looting the national exchequer with both hands and it was time that they paid for it.
Since 2004, Nawaz had been working as marketing manager in a foreign company FZE Capital, he said, adding that later, he became the chairman of that company and received 10,000 dirhams per month as salary.
He claimed that Nawaz’s total assets were worth Rs250 million before coming into power, and when he became prime minister, his assets multiplied tremendously to Rs2,350 million.
The former deputy attorney-general said that Nawaz had not disclosed all his assets when he applied for the National Assembly seat in 2013 general elections, which was illegal and a crime. He demanded of the government to immediately arrest Nawaz and give him an exemplary punishment.=DNA
