Ambassador Emilian ION gets Tamgha-e-Pakistan
BUCHAREST, MAR 24:(DNA) Govt of Pakistan has awarded former Romanian ambassador in Pakistan Emilian ION with Tamgha-e-Pakistan during an impressive ceremony held at Pakistan embassy in Bucharest.
Romanian foreign secretary was also present on the occasion. Pakistan ambassador to Romanian M Ayaz gave award to ambassador Emilian ION.
The citation says, the award has been given to Ambassador Emilian Ion in recognition of his services to promote bilateral relations between the two countries.
Emilian ION born in 1949, joined the Romanian foreign service in 1974. During his service he continued to pursue his master degree from 1974 to 1977. During his diplomatic career spanning over 40 years ambassador Emilian served on different important positions.
He was appointed ambassador of Romania to Pakistan in November 2008. He extended valuable services to promote and strengthen bilateral relations between Romania and Pakistan.
Ambassador Emilian was among the survivors of the tragic Naltar helicopter crash that took place on 08 May 2015 and in which many diplomats lost their lives.
Ambassador Emilian ION also served as the dean of European ambassadors while for quite some time he also served as acting Dean of Diplomatic Corps.
Ambassador Emilian during his seven and half years tenure in Pakistan opened honorary consulates in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Peshawar.
Pakistan, Romania business council also came into being during his tenure and with his efforts. =DNA
