Efforts required to cope with challenge of environmental pollution, Mayor Islamabad
ISLAMABAD, NOV 20 (DNA) – Coordinated efforts are required to cope with the challenge of environmental pollution so that clean and environment friendly country could be transmitted to our next generation.
Mayor of Islamabad, Sheikh Anser Aziz expressed these views on Tuesday after planting a tree sapling at Lake view Park. During the ceremony, Pakistani and Foreign players of Islamabad United, two time winner of Pakistan Super League, also voluntarily planted saplings at the Lakeview Park. Minister of State for Interior, Shaheryar Afridi was chief guest of the ceremony.
Mayor of Islamabad, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has introduced innovation in traditional ways of tree plantation and engaged / involved private sector, which has brought encouraging results.
He said that on the directions of Ministry of Interior, technical assistance and support was provided to the players of Islamabad United for plantation of trees.
While lauding the participation of the players of Islamabad United, Mayor said that general public particularly children follow the players a lot therefore tree planting is learning opportunity to get children involved in the environment and conservation of our natural resources.
He said that the MCI has devised a comprehensive strategy to evolve tree plantation drives in rural areas of city so that Islamabad could be made more green.
On this occasion, Mayor of Islamabad, Sheikh Anser Aziz directed to take necessary steps for ensuring proper growth of the planted sapling.
