ECP to announce verdict on plea against Maryam’s party post on Sept 3
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday has postponed its verdict on a plea challenging the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
According to details, the verdict will be announced on September 3.
Earlier, a three-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) retired Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza had reserved the decision on August 1 and decided to announce it on August 27.
However, in today‘s hearing, the commission deferred the verdict for want of more information.
Let it be known that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had on June 9 challenged Maryam Nawaz’s appointment as party vice president in the ECP.
PTI had adopted the stance that Maryam Nawaz is ineligible to hold any political or public office as she had been sentenced by the court in corruption reference.
