I commanded a brave, resilient police force in KP: NasirDurrani

ISLAMABAD, MAR 18, (DNA) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province is passing through a very difficult period in its history and Police force which acts as a front line in defence, is playing a pivotal role in the war against terror, said former IG Police KP in an exclusive interview with Dr Moeed Pirzada on program.
Terming the KP police a committed and gallant police force, the outgoing IGP said, “I am indeed very proud to command such a resilient force which has always risen to the occasion and has fought courageously to eradicate and counter the menace of terrorism”.
Complimenting the KP government, he said that he had the support of the provincial government of KP, which honoured my three conditions in order to improve the police force.
KP has been the frontline province in the war on terrorism which has witnessed most incidents of terrorism; to meet these imminent challenges of terrorism, it was a dire need to train and equip the police service with state of the art technology, NasirDurrani said. He added that it was a collective vision to use information technology as a change of agent and KP government launched a number of projects including automation of police stations, driving licenses and e-ticketing.
“The use of state of the art technology will enable Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to address the challenges of 21st century in a professional manner”, said Nasir Durrani.
KP police has the ability to be a strong force for countering terrorism
The former IGP said that after taking charge, it was observed that the KP police lacked basic training and were not up for the Job at a time when the province was jolted with deadly attacks on daily basis. “Training programs and specialised schools were introduced to improve basic training and specialised forces were launched to deal with terrorism,’’ said Nasir Durrani.
He added that dispute resolution councils and police assistance lines proved helpful to the public and the mistrust gap between the public and the force was narrowed to some extent.
