CM Sindh to chair cabinet meeting to replace police chief

KARACHI, OCT 28 (DNA) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah is to chair a cabinet meeting on Saturday to discuss the replacement of incumbent Inspector General Police (IGP) A.D. Khawaja, besides implementation of 18th Amendment of the Constitution.
According to sources, the cabinet is likely to discuss the replacement of current IGP with grade-22 Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) Abdul Dasti.
Earlier this month, Dasti – who is currently serving as the additional research and development inspector-general (IG) under command of A.D. Khawaja – was promoted to grade-22 by the federal government, turning the incumbent IGP junior to him.
The move was deemed as another bid to replace the current police chief.
The Pakistan Peoples’ Party-led government of Sindh has been in months-long tussle with Khawaja over the post.
The provincial cabinet had also given its nod for removal of the police chief in April but the decision then was reverted after a judicial intervention on the matter.
