Casualties feared as bomb blast rocks Afghan government compound in Kabul
KABUL, (DNA) – A car bomb exploded not far from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Works in Kabul was followed by gunfire, the Interior Ministry of Afghanistan said on Monday.
A number of gunmen have entered the compound where an office of the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled is located, according to officials and media reports.
Meanwhile, citing Kabul police spokesman Basir Mujahid that the security forces have arrived at the government institution in Macroryan 1, PD 16 of the city, and the shooting is still underway.
The TV channel reported no people had been reported killed or injured yet.
The incident comes amid stepped up diplomatic efforts for peace talks.
It comes on the day Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited Kabul and pledged efforts to bring the Taliban to negotiating table with Afghan government.
