Capital Hospital organises live laparoscopic surgery workshop
ISLAMABAD, 29 APR, (DNA) – Live laparoscopic Surgery workshop and hands on training for young surgeons and residents was organized by General Surgery Department, Capital Hospital, CDA in collaboration with Society of Surgeons Pakistan, Rawalpindi/Islamabad chapter in Capital Hospital on Friday.
In this live Surgery Workshop Laparoscopic Procedures for Inguinal Hernias were demonstrated from the Operation theatre of capital hospital to the auditorium live and this session was interactive.
A Galaxy of renound Surgeons from the twin cities attended this workshop along with the junior Doctors, young surgeons and post Graduate Residents, Hands on training for basic Laparoscopy was also arranged for doctors.
Dr.Kamran Rasheed renowned Oncologist presented on the Oncologist aspect of the medical field. Different papers and studies were presented by doctors of Capital Hospital including case presentation of corrosive intake by Dr.Yasmeen Iqbal, Laparoscopic Gastric Cancer Surgery by Dr.Noshi Bibi P.G Resident.
Laparoscopic Ventral Hernia by Dr.Tanseer Asghar, Breast Clinic Audit and studies on Breast Cancer by Dr.Ruqia Mushtaq.
Professor Dr.Naeem Zia President Society of Surgeons praised the organization of the event and emphasized the need of such activities in the teaching hospital. He praised the efforts of Dr.Naeem Taj Head of Department Surgery at CDA Hospital and running a structural training program for surgical residents.
Professor Dr.Mohammad Hanif said that he is impressed by the quality of work being performed at this Hospital and the facilities and the infrastructure of the department. He praised the administration and skills of Head of Department Surgery Dr.Naeem Taj.
Dr.Naeem Taj and Dr.Tanseer Asghar demonstrated the Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and Laparoscopic appendectomy procedures. They demonstrated their laparoscopic work in sleeve mastectomy and gastric cancers. Dr.Hanif and Dr.Naeem Zia demonstrated live surgeries of TEP and TAPP.
Dr.Fayyaz Lodhi Executive Director CDA Hospital said that he will always support for this type of academic activities in the hospital. He said that the surgery department has always added good name to the hospital. He praised the activities arranged by Dr.Naeem Taj and said that his name has been added in Guinees world Records twice.
Dr.Naeem Taj, Head of Surgery Department and General Secretary of Society of Surgeons Pakistan. Rawalpindi / Islamabad Chapter said that our aim is to learn new skills of the field and train young surgeons with latest techniques of Laparoscopic Surgery.
He said that he is a strong supporter of the emerging skills and technologies in the field of Laparoscopic surgery and the arranged such academic activities in this hospital and support his young colleagues to have advance training locally from abroad.
He said that all teaching hospitals should play role in the academics and skills of the advancement of laparoscopic procedures. He announced another live training workshop in near future for the surgeons of fair flung areas.
He appreciated the efforts of Dr.Syed Arshad Ali Head of Department Anesthesia and his team including Dr.Tahir for this live workshop.
In the meanwhile, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Maroof Afzal and Member Administration, Amer Ali Ahmed has lauded such activities in the field of medical sciences and said that CDA is taking all out measures for up-gradation and introducing latest medical technology other medical related equipments.
CDA is committed to enhance the professional capabilities of the doctors and paramedic staff by providing them the latest training to bring the Capital Hospital at par with best hospital of the country.
Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that due to the increase in the number of patients, new block is being constructed, while operation theatre is also being upgraded. =DNA
