I cannot fix country’s system alone, says Chief Justice
PESHAWAR, APR 18 (DNA) – Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said on Wednesday that he cannot repair the system alone as change in system comes with law.
Addressing judges and presidents of various bars in Peshawar High Court bar room, the CJP said that the person who does not receive justice on time is like a patient.
“Laws formed hundreds of years ago have not yet been changed. The law made in 1801 and 1802 have not been updated but it is not the fault of Supreme Court. We do not have support from the government but have to try,” he asserted.
The CJP suggested that justice should be served while weighing it.
“We fulfilled every wish of Justice Dost Muhammad. He was asked when he will take reference to which he replied that on the day of retirement. We also bought a gift for him and his wife. His letter came saying that he do not wish to take reference,” told the CJP.
“I wind up 22 petitions. We are blamed of not working speedily. I was said in PHC that I am unjust with Pashtuns however; they are very dear to me,” he said.
