British High Commissioner launches UK-Pakistan photography exhibition

FAISALABAD, SEPT 14 (DNA) – The British High Commissioner, Thomas Drew CMG, launched a photography exhibition in Faisalabad today. The exhibition, entitled ‘Shared History. Shared Future.’ showcases 70 years of UK-Pakistan relations and will be open to the general public from 14 to 16 September at the Naqqash Hall in the Serena Hotel in Faisalabad.  The same exhibition also opened in the British Parliament on Monday and will tour other major cities in Pakistan and the UK.

The President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr Mohammed Saeed and The Head of DFID Lahore Ms Ruth Graham, also joined the British High Commissioner at the event along with officials from the British High Commission, guests from Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and local businessmen in Faisalabad.

During his two-day visit, the British High Commissioner met a range of trade leaders in Faisalabad and also visited an aluminium can production factory and the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management.

The British High Commissioner, Mr Thomas Drew CMG, said:

“As we mark 70 years of friendship between the UK and Pakistan in 2017, we are delighted to be here in Faisalabad, in the city known as the Manchester of Pakistan.  We have a wide range of interests and links with Faisalabad, including through culture, education and development, but we are particularly keen to increase the £2 billion of trade between our two countries.

“The photographs that are displayed today in this exhibition showcase our  cooperation in trade, sports, politics, development, defence, education, infrastructure and culture over the last 70 years. This exhibition opened in the British Parliament this week and will tour other major cities in Pakistan and the UK.

“I look forward to even greater cooperation between our two countries over the next 70 years and beyond”.

The British High Commission’s ‘Shared History. Shared Future.’ photography exhibition is currently touring the UK and will continue to be exhibited in other cities in Pakistan. Throughout the year, the British High Commission, in collaboration with the Pakistan High Commission in London, is organising several events and activities to mark 70 years of UK and Pakistan’s relations.
