Complete ban on Basant: Shehbaz Sharif
LAHORE, FEB 07, (DNA) – Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif has stated on Tuesday that the provincial government has imposed complete ban on Basant festival.
In a message posted on social media website, the Chief Minister stated that none would be allowed to play with the lives of people and concerned District Police Officer would be held responsible in case a violation is reported.
Earlier in the day today it was reported that Law Minister of Punjab, Rana Sanaullah said that the Government of Punjab could not permit a ‘throat-cutting kite flying festival’.
The festival was banned in Punjab in 2007 owing to deaths caused by sharply polished threads used to fly kites.=DNA
