Balochistan Assembly elects MPA Abdul Quddus Bizenjo as new CM
QUETTA, JAN 13 (DNA) – MPA Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, the opposition-treasury census candidate, became the new chief minister of Balochistan
A PML-Q MPA from Awaran, Bizenjo, is said to be enjoying the support of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers, who remained loyal to former chief minister Sanaullah Zehri.
Besides Bizenjo, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) MPAs, Syed Liaqat and Abdul Ziaratwal, filed nomination papers for the election of the leader of the house on Friday.
In the 65-member provincial assembly, members from the opposition and treasury benches support Bizenjo for the slot of the chief minister.
The PML-Q has five members, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) eight, Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) two, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen, Awami National Party and BNP-Awami one each.
PakMAP has 14 members in the house while NP, which has 11 members, has decided not to take part in the election process.
The PML-N has 21 members in the provincial assembly, out of which 19 members are said to be supporting Bizenjo.
On January 09, former chief minister Sanaullah Zehri stepped down from his post following mounting pressure in the wake of no-trust motion against him in the provincial assembly.
