Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission registers first candidate in presidential election
BAKU, MAR 03 (DNA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan held a meeting chaired by Mazahir Panahov. The Commission reviewed the issue of registration of Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev’s candidacy who was nominated by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) for the upcoming presidential election.
Ballots with voters’ signatures in support of the Azerbaijani President, Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev and the documents to be attached to them were submitted to the Central Election Commission by the authorized representative of the party on February 22 for registration of the candidate.
The Commission conducted appropriate enquiries within the time and regulations stipulated by the legislation, and determined that there are appropriate grounds necessary for the candidate’s registration.
Taking this into account, by the unanimous decision of the Commission members, Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev, nominated by the New Azerbaijan Party, was registered as a candidate in the presidential election of the Republic of Azerbaijan scheduled for 11 April, 2018.
