Australian High Commissioner expresses solidarity with Pakistan over flood tragedy
ISLAMABAD: Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Neil Hawkins has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating floods that have claimed more than 200 lives across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other regions of the country.
In a message on social media, the envoy said he was “saddened by the tragic flash floods across Pakistan, claiming over 200 lives across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and beyond—including brave rescuers in a helicopter crash.”
The High Commissioner reaffirmed Australia’s support and sympathy for the people of Pakistan during this difficult time. “Australia stands in solidarity with our Pakistani friends at this tough time. Our thoughts are with all affected,” he added.
The recent floods have caused widespread devastation, damaging homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods, while rescue and relief operations continue in the affected areas.
