LAHORE, (DNA) – Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Margaret Adamson today opened an exhibition at Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Art Gallery of the National College of Arts Lahore, to celebrate the success of five Pakistani artists whose works will appear in a major Australian exhibition.

The prestigious Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) will this year show works by Pakistan’s Aisha Khalid, Ali Kazim, Naiza Khan, Rasheed Araeen and Waqas Khan.“Pakistan has every reason to be proud of these five wonderful artists,” Ms Adamson said.

“Their works will be appearing in an exhibition whose unique mix of exciting new art and cross-cultural insight has attracted three million visitors since 1993.”

“Art can speak things that words cannot, and express contemporary issues. It has a unique capacity to foster inclusion and understanding and to connect peoples,” Ms Adamson said.

APT is the only major exhibition series in the world to focus exclusively on the contemporary art of Asia, the Pacific and Australia. It will run from 24 November 2018 to 28 April 2019 at the Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in Brisbane, Australia.

“Events like this show the growth in cultural exchange under way between our two countries. The truck art of Pakistan is already famous in Australia, and now APT will bring even more of Pakistan’s brilliant art to the attention of Australians,” Ms Adamson said.
