Ambassador of Iran calls on army chief

“Rawalpindi – 19 April 2017: Mr. Mehdi Honardoost, Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa today. Evolving regional security matrix and other issues of mutual interest were discussed, including measures against common threat of terrorism.
COAS said that Pakistan greatly values historic Pak-Iran relationship and the same shall continue based on mutual trust and respect for each other’s interests.”
Diplomatic sources say Iran is not happy with Pakistan over its linking of terrorists activities in Balochistan. Uzair Baloch reportedly had confided to the security agencies that he was in close contact with the Iranian intelligence agencies operatives. The Iran embassy last week had denied any such links saying the Iranian government regards its relations with Pakistan very important.
