Ambassador Dr. Oumer visits Sialkot Chamber of Commerce
ISLAMABAD, MAY 12 /DNA/ – Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, paid an official visit to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday.
Upon his arrival, he was accorded a warm welcome by Mr. Murad Arshad, Senior Vice President of the SCCI, along with several Executive Members.
Addressing the SCCI members, the Ambassador appreciated Sialkot’s significant industrial potential and highlighted the vast opportunities for establishing bilateral cooperation in trade and investment between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The Ambassador explained about the specific competitive advantages Ethiopia offers to Pakistani investors, emphasizing the country’s large population, skilled workforce, access to affordable green energy, and its integration with the region and beyond.
These benefits are supported by a conducive investment climate featuring various incentives and tax exemptions resulting from the Homegrown Economic Reforms, which have successfully addressed macroeconomic imbalances while boosting productivity and job creation in Ethiopia, the Ambassador noted.
He urged the business community to visit Ethiopia to explore growing opportunities within the agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, mining, tourism, and ICT sectors.
Mr. Syed Ahtesham Mazhar thanked the Ambassador for his visit and expressed optimism that the industrial strength of Sialkot would play a major role in strengthening business-to-business relations between the two nations.
The session concluded with a productive question-and-answer period focused on deepening economic ties.
