Ahsan Iqbal urges youth to lead Pakistan’s battle for progress

ISLAMABAD, AUG 25: A seminar titled “The Role of Youth as Global Leaders in an Emerging Pakistan” was held at the Islamic Research Institute, marking Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting and cake-cutting ceremony.

The event was jointly organized by the International Islamic University and the Ministry of Education and Professional Training, alongside a national book exhibition celebrating knowledge and learning.

Federal Minister for Planning Professor Ahsan Iqbal, attending as Chief Guest, urged Pakistan’s youth to embrace the Marka-e-Taraqqi—the “battle for progress.” He said the next two decades are crucial for Pakistan’s transformation into a strong, developed nation.

“Pakistan’s future is bright, but we must work with unity and discipline. Sustainable development cannot be achieved without peace, cohesion, and responsibility,” Iqbal emphasized. He stressed the need to end sectarianism and polarization, while also calling for greater civic responsibility from youth.

Highlighting modern challenges, Ahsan Iqbal noted that the failure to adopt new trends since 2018 severely harmed national progress. He said the government is working to put the country back on modern lines through initiatives like the Udan Pakistan program, which he described as a “guarantee of progress and prosperity.”

He also emphasized the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in governance and problem-solving, calling it a “necessity of today” to build efficient systems. Political stability, he added, remains the foundation of sustainable growth.

Wajiha Qamar stresses education and youth’s role
Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar, who attended as Guest of Honor, underlined that education is the cornerstone of development and prosperity. She and other speakers praised the youth’s past role in safeguarding Pakistan’s ideological frontiers and supporting the armed forces, especially through social media during times of national challenge.

“Youth are Pakistan’s greatest asset,” the speakers said, stressing that their unity, responsibility, and positive engagement can overcome polarization and ensure peace.

A large number of students participated in the event, reflecting youth engagement in shaping Pakistan’s future. The national book exhibition was formally inaugurated by Wajiha Qamar, further reinforcing the theme of education and knowledge as the pillars of progress.
