Action plan to be formulated to turn Isb into a model city

ISLAMABAD, 27 NOV (DNA) – A one year comprehensive action plan would be formulated to turn Federal Capital into most beautiful and a model city of the country. This plan would cover the enhancement in the green character, improvement of road infrastructure and up-gradation of civic amenities in Islamabad.

These views were expressed by the Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD), Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry while chairing a briefing held at Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters here on Friday. During the meeting Minister of State was briefed in detail about the functions and development projects of the authority. The meeting was attended by the members of the CDA Board and other senior officers of the Authority.

On this occasion Member Administration, Amer Ali Ahmed while briefing the State Minister apprised that in order to promote the development activities, CDA has initiated many significant and mega projects in the city while many other projects aimed to improve the basic facilities in the city have also been envisaged which would be launched in near future. Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed informed that sitting CDA management has not only initiated new projects in the city but also started development work in the sectors and on the projects which remained stalled for many years.

He apprised that CDA has marked the current fiscal year a year of development activities. He informed the State Minister that in addition to the completion of Kashmir Highway project, construction of citizen facilitation centres, under passes on major and busy avenues and construction of parking plazas in the city, momentum of the development activities at Park Enclave Housing Project, sector I-11 and on other projects have been increased remarkably.

Furthermore, in order to cater the increasing housing needs of the city, development of the new sectors is also being focused. He further informed the Minister that in order to improve medical facilities CDA Hospital is being upgraded in addition to the construction of new additional block while sufficient funds have also been allocated for the improvement and up-gradation of the sewerage system of the city.

Member Administration, Amer Ali Ahmed further briefed that in order to improve the traveling facilities and an easy access to the metro buss stations, CDA has planned to launch feeder busses in the city whereas up-gradation and maintenance work on the water filtration plants is also in final stages.

He further briefed that CDA has also started a phase wise project of replacement of conventional street lights of the city with LED lights in order to make Capital city a city of lights. He said that revamping of the whole city, particularly improvement of the Road infrastructure and other basic amenities is being done with special focus on G series sectors

Member Administration further briefed that on the directions of Prime Minister of Pakistan, development work on the first phase of Expressway Signal Free Corridor project would be completed one month prior to the completion deadline.

He further informed that in order to ensure transparency in the balloting procedures and other land matters modern techniques are being adopted and in this connection NADRA has prepared error proof software which will facilitate the transparent balloting in future.

State Minister for CAAD, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that it is highly encouraging that Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is taking keen interest in the development of Islamabad and allocation of special funds for improvement of road infrastructure and up-gradation of civic amenities in the city shows his commitment towards development of the Federal Capital.

He further said that in order to make Federal capital a model city, in line with the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan, a yearlong development action plan would be devised which will bring better results in the future. He said that in all development projects, special focus would be given to the suggestions of the residents.

He said that an effective internal accountability system in the Authority would be introduced to discourage corrupt elements and encourage the honest and dedicated officers of the Authority. Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry further said that to provide clean drinking water and other facilities in the city, all formations of the authority would be mobilized.

He said that he is very thankful to the Prime Minister of Pakistan who have entrusted this responsibility upon him and he will work to deliver in accordance with the vision and expectations of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. DNA
