Pakistan to face India in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy final

ISLAMABAD, OCT 28 (DNA) – The arch-rivals, Pakistan and India will lock horns on Sunday in the final of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy final in Muscat at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.

Pakistan booked their berth in the final after a nail-biting contest against Malaysia, where the game was tied at 4-4 at the end of the regulation period of play. But, the Men in Green clinched the all-important victory in the penalty shootout.

The two-time champions, Pakistan will enter the final with a winning momentum, having won five of their last games in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.

On the other hand, India reached the final by beating Japan in the semi-final by 3-2.

Indians will be confident facing Pakistan as they defeated them in their previous encounter of the tournament by 3-1. Moreover, the last time these two teams clashed in the final of this tournament in 2016, India emerged as victorious with a scoreline of 3-2.

India also have won this tournament twice, in 2011 and 2016.

The thrilling final between the two neigbouring countries will start at 10:10 Pakistan Standard Time.
