We will defend our motherland whatever the cost: COAS

RAWALPINDI, SEPT 24 (DNA) – A day after another civilian was killed in Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC), Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan will be defended at all costs.

On Sunday, Pakistan summoned acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh to condemn the ceasefire violations, causing the death of Pakistani civilians.

“We have taken the oath to defend our motherland whatever [is the] cost or sacrifices,” the Inter-Services Public Relations quoted the COAS as saying.

“We have been, we are and we shall keep doing it,” Gen Qamar said. “Salute to the martyrs of Pakistan.”

The death toll from India’s ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB) has risen to seven this week.

Earlier, the DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted. “Hostile foreign efforts in destabilising Pakistan [are being exposed] and defeated by a resilient nation.”

Bharat Karnad, professor for national security studies at the Centre for Policy Research and author of “Why India is Not a Great Power (Yet)”, wrote, “Severing relations with TTP will mean India surrendering an active card in Pakistan and a role in Afghanistan as TTP additionally provides access to certain Afghan Taliban factions.”
