ISLAMABAD,SEPT 22 (DNA) -China Cultural Centre is organizing ‘‘Exhibition of Chinese Traditional Costumes’’ which will take place in the Exhibition Gallery of China Cultural Centre situated at PNCA (5^th floor) on 24^th September, 2017, at 4 pm. This occurrence will remain open for general public till the 18^th October, 2017.

Cultural Counselor Mr. You Yi will inaugurate the ‘Exhibition of Chinese Traditional Costumes’’ along with other distinguished guests. The event will offer a platform for visitors and students to interrelate directly with the Chinese Leading Artisans and to acquire about Chinese Traditional Costumes, traditional Chinese tailoring, stitching and designing on silk work.

As a vital part of Chinese civilization, traditional costumes play an important role in the country’s history and culture. Their basic features are cross-collar, wrapping the right lapel over the left, tying with sash and a form of blouse plus skirt or long gown. These features have been preserved for thousands of years. Traditional attires are only worn during certain festivals, ceremonies or religious occasions. However, they are often seen in Chinese television serials and movies. Many of the country’s ethnic minorities also wear their traditional costumes in their daily lives and they played an important role in the traditional Chinese clothing.

This Chinese traditional costume exhibition mainly focuses on artistic, visual and practical characteristics of these costumes. This exhibition also demonstrates some representative costumes from Ming Dynasties to the period of Republic of China. Their objective is an authentic presentation of the attire that comes from China’s divinely inspired traditional culture, and a consummate stage effect.

This exhibition also depicts various categories of costumes i.e Traditional Chinese Wedding dresses, traditional cheongsam, modern cheongsam, party dresses, cheongsam/Qipao, etc. which will be display in the exhibition gallery made with pure silk in different styles of work on them.

 The designers stress harmonic balance and contrast. Their objective is an authentic presentation of the attire that comes from China’s divinely inspired traditional culture, and a consummate stage effect. Visitors can pay attention to the meticulous handiwork on each garment, which is the result of hundreds of hours of painstaking labour. =DNA
