Army Chief telephones Nawaz Sharif, prays for Kulsoom Nawaz’s health
RAWALPINDI, AUG 23 (DNA) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) made a telephone call to former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday to express his best wishes and prayers for health of Begum Kalsoom Nawaz.
This was stated by DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor in a message posted on Twitter:
Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of Nawaz Sharif, has been diagnosed with throat cancer.
Kulsoom has filed nomination papers to contest elections on the seat that fell vacant after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court on July 28. She abruptly left for London for a medical checkup while her nomination papers were being scrutinised.
She was expected to actively contest the elections but it is now believed that their daughter Maryam will campaign for her mother instead.
