Pakistan cannot take Kashmir issue to ICJ, claims Sushma Swaraj
![NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that Pakistan cannot take the Kashmir issue to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) according to Shimla agreement and Lahore declaration. Sushma gave this statement while responding to a question about Pakistani law officer’s statement in which he hinted at moving ICJ regarding Kashmir issue after India took Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case to the global court. Swaraj said, “Pakistan cannot take Kashmir issue to ICJ. The Shimla agreement and Lahore declaration are very clear on Kashmir issue that it can only be resolved bilaterally. The two countries are bound by these bilateral agreements.” She also made it clear that there is no possibility of any meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi during their visit in Kazakhstan this week. “No meeting is scheduled either from their side or from our side,” she said. NEW DELHI, JUN 06 (DNA) – India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that Pakistan cannot take the Kashmir issue to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) according to Shimla agreement and Lahore declaration.
Sushma gave this statement while responding to a question about Pakistani law officer’s statement in which he hinted at moving ICJ regarding Kashmir issue after India took Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case to the global court.
Swaraj said, “Pakistan cannot take Kashmir issue to ICJ. The Shimla agreement and Lahore declaration are very clear on Kashmir issue that it can only be resolved bilaterally. The two countries are bound by these bilateral agreements.”
She also made it clear that there is no possibility of any meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi during their visit in Kazakhstan this week. “No meeting is scheduled either from their side or from our side,” she said.
