ECP serves notice on Imran for election code breach

ISLAMABAD, September 24 (DNA): Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has served a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over holding a public meeting in Taxila.
According to the notice issued by Returning Officer, Imran Khan had violated the electoral code of conduct.
The election commission has asked the PTI chairman to explain as to why he staged a public meeting in the constituency despite being prohibited by the election commission to do so.
ECP had restrained Khan from holding rallies and demonstration in Taxila ahead of the by-election in PP-7 (Taxila) under election rules.
The ECP said that the elected representatives were not allowed to participate in a rally under the election rules.
The vote for by-election in PP-7 Taxila will be held on this Monday. The seat fell vacant following the death of PTI Punjab Assembly member Muhammad Siddique Khan
