Anusha Rehman for achieving “Digital Pakistan” milestones objective
ISLAMABAD, 15 JUNE, (DNA) – The Minister of State for IT & Telecom, Mrs. Anusha Rehman Wednesday said that the government and industry needs to work hand in hand to realize the agenda of “Digital Pakistan” and meaningful contribution of IT & Connectivity to socio-economic welfare of our masses.
Inaugurating a flagship digital lab during the digital festival organized by Telenor Pakistan, she further expressed her firm intent to work in collaboration with industry to achieve the “Digital Pakistan” milestones objective.
It is pertinent to mention that post 3G/4G, there has been multifold & massive increase in consumption of mobile broadband, which has led to further opportunities for the operators beyond simple voice. Broadband penetration which was below 3% in 2013 has reached over 19% and growing.
Digital services, financial inclusion, smart urbanization, IoT (Internet of Things), social sector applications and content are some of the key areas that the telecom service providers are now addressing as the part of their mainstream business.
Government has also accorded highest priority not only to cover remaining un-served population in terms of supply but also to support mainstream digitization of our economy & society under the banner of “Digital Pakistan”, Minister added.
She appreciated Telenor Pakistan looking into innovation in telecom services delivery which is evident from their renewed focus on digital services applications & platforms etc. All of these measures directly or indirectly contribute to the achievement of digital Pakistan objective. =DNA
