Michelle Obama visits Pakistan Embassy in DC

WASHINGTON, May 28 (DNA): The United States First Lady Michelle Obama has visited Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington DC for the first time. This was revealed when Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani happily shared pictures of her visit on Twitter with the rest of the world on Saturday.
“It was an absolute delight hosting FLOTUS at Pakistan House today,” Ambassador Jilani wrote in a Twitter post.
Although, the reasons behind Michelle Obama’s visit to the embassy are still not known, it is being speculated that it could have links with her ‘Let Girls Learn’ campaign.
As part of the campaign, the US First Lady last year had announced a contribution of $70 million for educating adolescent girls in Pakistan.
Her recent visit to Pakistan’s Embassy has been happening at a time when ties between Pakistan and the US are going through a stressed phase after the US drone strike which killed the Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. DNA
