Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif meets Tajik President
DUSHANBE, MAR 01: (DNA) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif met with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahman during his recent visit to Tajikistan, on Tuesday.Both dignitaries discussed various ways and means to expand and diversify bilateral cooperation especially in the fields of defence, education culture etc.The Pakistan army chief remained with the President of Tajikistan for a while. Pakistan and Tajikistan share common views on issues such as terrorism, extremism and action against narcotics.
According to sources of Tajikistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both Pakistan and Tajikistan share same views in terms of regional and global security and have been working hand in hand towards this end.
Pakistan and Tajikistan enjoy excellent relations in all fields. Leaderships of both countries have a keen desire to strengthen the relations.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has visited Tajikistan recently likewise the Tajik president also visited Pakistan. Apart from military sphere, both countries are cooperating with each other in other fields also such as trade, economy and especially energy.
CASA 1000 is a landmark project between the two countries, which after completion in 2018 will adequately address energy needs of Pakistan. The project also came under discussion during the meeting between Pakistan army chief and the Tajik president.
