Retired major’s son kidnapped along with friend in Lahore
LAHORE: The son of a retired army officer was said to have been kidnapped along with a friend in the city.
It is the second incident of children of army officers being kidnapped under mysterious circumstances and police authorities are reluctant to share details, citing it is a “highly sensitive matter”.
A source in the police department said retired Maj Manzoor Ahmad’s 38-year-old son Waqas Ahmad left his Canal Road, Chuhng, residence along with his eight-year-old son, Umar Waqas. Before leaving home, he had told his family he was going to see a friend. Later, both the father and the son went missing and on finding Waqas’s mobile phone switched off, the family started searching for him, but to no avail.
The source said four hours later, the family found Waqas’s son Umar outside their house. However, they failed to trace Waqas.
The family reported the matter to Chuhng police and lodged an FIR against unidentified kidnappers. They also found out that Waqas’s friend Umair Saeed was missing as well.
Earlier, two sons of retired Maj Gen Chaudhry Ahmad Khan had been kidnapped a few days ago.
