Load shedding cannot be controlled till 2018: Khawaja Asif
ISLAMABAD, 04 JAN (DNA) – Federal Minister for Water and Electricity Khawaja Asif submitted a letter in National Assembly on Monday in which he admitted that the load shedding cannot becontrolled before 2018.According to the details, the ministry accepted in the written letter submitted in the National Assembly that the current government cannot get rid of load shedding until before 2018.
He said that 14 out of 43 Independent Power Producer’s (IPP) are not working right now while 21 projects are producing less than 50 percent electricity. Asif said in the letter that only 3 power projects are producing 90 percent electricity.
It is also mentioned in the letter that the quantum of electricity to be added to the national grid during the present government approximately 18034 MW while the expected demand at that time would be 25790 MW that shows that even in 2018, Pakistan will have a short fall of 7000 megawatt. DNA
