FM Qureshi apprises EU Human Rights envoy on Kashmir situation
LAHORE (DNA) – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday called European Union (EU) Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore and apprised him about the serious human rights abuses in the occupied Kashmir.
FM Qureshi expressed that Pakistan views its relations with the EU in high regards. “The people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been facing the worst curfew in the history of valley ever since August 5. India’s unilateral and unconstitutional measures are a violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) resolutions”, he added.
He went on to say that the lives of the Kashmiris have been completely paralyzed with no medicines and food as a result of continuous curfew in the valley. “International media and global human rights organizations are looking at a new human tragedy in the occupied valley,” he added.
Eamon Gilmore expressed concerns over human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and said he was closely monitoring the situation in the region.
