PM Imran Khan terms permitting NRO equivalent to treason
BALLOKI (dna) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Saturday asserted that ‘two historic Non-Reconciliation Ordinances (NROs)’ offered to Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari’ were responsible for the current economic crisis in the country.
Reportedly, he addressed the general public at the “Plant for Pakistan” campaign at Balloki Headworks in Nankana Sahib.
He rubbished rumors that the federal government would make any deal with the opposition under the NRO by stating “NRO implies forgiving criminals.”
He stated that Musharraf’s NRO to former premier Nawaz Sharif and Zardari’s NRO in the Swiss bank accounts case are the reasons for the country’s rising debts.
“It will be treason, if the government gives an NRO to anyone,” he said.
Imran Khan also lambasted opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif and said that the federal government had done whatever was possible to execute the affairs smoothly but “We will not allow relaxation to them anymore,” the PM said.
Certain rumors have been circulating, especially on the social media, regarding a possibility that the government was considering a deal with opposition leaders, especially PMLN’s leadership in order to ease pressure on treasury benches in the parliament.
Later, the PM announced to establish a state of the art university in Baloki. “The university will be named after Baba Guru Nanak”, he said.
