8th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto being observed today

ISLAMABAD, 27 DEC (DNA) – The 8th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is being observed today (Sunday) across the country. Special prayers are to be held in mosques for the departed soul of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and the first woman prime minister of the Muslim world.
Thousands of people, including top PPP leaders, have converged on Garhi Khuda Bakhsh town in Sindh, where she is buried at the family mausoleum, for the main events of the day.
PPP co-chairman and Benazir’s son, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, will chair a meeting in Naudero of the PPP’s central executive committee (CEC) for the first time, and will also address a public gathering after visiting Benazir’s grave in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
Special congregations are also being held in small and major towns to pay tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Several other activities have been planned to pay tribute to Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary across the country.
Quran Khwani will be also held at Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi, where Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in 2007. Party leaders and activists will visit Liaqat Bagh to pay homage to the slain former prime minister. DNA
