German envoy visits Sialkot International Airport
SIALKOT, FEB 20 (DNA) – Ambassador of Germany in Pakistan Mr. Martin Kobler visited Sialkot International Airport Sialkot. Germen Ambassador discussed in details the matters of mutual interest with Khawar Anwar Khawaja(Chairman Sialkot International Airport).
Mr.Martin Kobler narrated that the Germany is a gateway to Europe and revealed that Germeny is the largest foreign investor in the world.
“We wanted to see the Pakistani economy growing and developing”, he added. Germen Ambassador also visited the Sialkot International Airport.
Addressing a meeting of the management of the Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) the Envoy said that the Germen intended to have developed and strengthened mutual trade relations with Pakistan, saying that the Germen would ensure the easy access of Sialkot exporters to EU and Germen markets, in this regard
Chairman Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL Khawar Anwar Khawaja said the grand project of Sialkot airport, set up by Sialkot exporters on self-help basis, was playing a pivotal role in opening new vistas of socio-economic development in Pakistan’s first-ever Golden Export Triangle comprising Sialkot, Gujarat and Gujranwala districts, besides helping a lot in boosting the exports.
Chairman SIAL Khawar Anwar Khawaja said that the regular cargo flights to Europe and America were also on from the airport for facilitating the local exporters in handling their cargo consignments to the foreign destinations as well.
He said that the management of SIAL had formally invited several international airlines to come to Pakistan and start their international passenger and cargo flights from Sialkot-Pakistan to several foreign destinations as well.
He added that Sialkot airport could be a very successful destination for any airline, saying the Sialkot exporters had written a unique golden history of self-help by completing this mega project, advising others to replicate it.
Meanwhile German Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Martin Kobler Visited Pakistan Sports Goods Exporters and Manufacturers Association and said that Germany was keen to strengthen trade ties with Pakistan and increase trade volume between both the countries.
Addressing a meeting of PSGEMA here, he stressed the need for an increase in the exchange of business delegations between the two countries on a regular basis and, for this; the relevant chambers could play a vital role.
He said that Germany would ensure easy access of Sialkot exporters to EU and German markets, in this regard. He also vowed to develop strong business-to-business links between the businessmen of Canada and Pakistan, saying that the step would also help to explore the mutual trade potential between the two countries.
The German Ambassador highly appreciated the Sialkot exporters for carrying out several mega projects including Sialkot International Airport Limited and now even their own private airline on self-help basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Pakistan Sports Goods Exporters and Manufacturers Association Husnain Iftikhar Cheema said that the economic and financial development cooperation between Pakistan and Germany goes back in 1961, with the trade investment exceeding 2.3 billion dollar and Germany was now Pakistan’s fourth largest trade partner.
He said that German market had big demand for the items produced in Sialkot. There is a great potential for joint ventures and business cooperation between Germany and Sialkot based companies especially in the fields of Sports Goods, Surgical Instruments and Leather Products.
He said that German brands and companies from different industrial backgrounds were currently working with our local industry members of Sialkot and therefore, we have very close interaction with the German industry and society.=DNA
