Mayor promises a new-look diplomatic enclave

ISLAMABAD, JAN 31 (DNA)Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz has said Diplomatic Enclave is being given a new look adding the development work has already kick-started.

He further said, cleanliness and development of the diplomatic enclave is of course his priority which was ignored in the past owing to which unchecked wild growth had greatly spoiled the beauty of the enclave.

“You will   also see a visible improvement in the Enclave in terms of road infrastructure and footpaths. Please feel assured, I am personally monitoring the development work periodically to ensure there is no slackness”.

The Mayor expressed these words while speaking on the occasion of a reception hosted by Centreline journal and DNA news agency.

The Mayor further said, “As a Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, I have already initiated a number of steps to not only boost the grandeur of the city but to create various recreational and business opportunities for different segments of the society.

He said Islamabad is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities of Pakistan but there is a lot more to be done to bring it at par with other beautiful capitals of the world.

He said, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has given a vision to modernize Islamabad.

“Let me assure you that we are following this vision as a guiding principle for all our plans and actions. I would like to take this opportunity to also assure the residents of Islamabad that no stone shall be left unturned to make this city a must-visit place”.

CDA has plans to improve the trekking areas since the number of trekkers including the diplomats is increasing day by day. We will welcome your suggestions in this area too.

The Mayor said let me also share with you that we are planning to host an International Mayors’ Conference in Islamabad, modalities of which are being fine tuned presently.  I look forward to your support to hold this international conference in a befitting manner.

He added, efforts are under way to make twin-city arrangements with various capitals of the world.

With Beijing and Ankara, we already have a sister-city arrangement; and there are possibilities of having similar arrangements with more cities.

“I was in China some time back and I discussed this possibility with the Chinese authorities. Likewise, we would also like to have this arrangement with European and other countries”.=DNA
